We get a lot of the same great questions from first-time riders across South Florida. Here's everything you need to plan the perfect airboat adventure.
Booking your first airboat tour should be exciting, not confusing. Whether you're a Fort Lauderdale local, visiting from out of state, or planning a birthday ride for the family, this Everglades airboat tour FAQ covers the questions we hear most. From what to wear and whether you'll actually see wild alligators, to how our safety practices work and how easy it is to book, we've laid it all out below.
Aces Airboat Tours is a family-owned company run by born-and-raised Florida captains, and we ride the genuinely wild Everglades on the western edge of Broward and Palm Beach County — not a fenced enclosure. If you don't see your question here, call us at the number on this page. A real local will answer and help you plan your ride from Tamarac, the Sawgrass Expressway at Atlantic Blvd, or The Landing in Parkland.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear on an Everglades airboat tour?
Dress comfortably for the outdoors: sunscreen, sunglasses (with a strap), a hat and light layers. Closed-toe shoes or sandals are both fine. Mornings can feel cool on the water even in summer, and afternoons are bright and warm, so plan for the time of day you're riding. Bring a light jacket for sunrise, sunset and night tours.
Will I actually see alligators?
We ride a wild, gator-rich stretch of the Everglades and see alligators on the vast majority of tours, along with herons, egrets, turtles and osprey. Because these are wild animals in their natural habitat we can never guarantee sightings, but our native captains know exactly where to look and rarely come up empty.
Are Aces airboat tours safe?
Yes. We run stable, well-maintained boats with USCG-minded practices, give every guest a full safety briefing and hearing protection, and our captains are born-and-raised locals who never cut corners. We put our own families on these decks, so safety comes first on every ride.
Are airboat tours good for kids? What ages can ride?
Airboat tours are a fantastic family adventure and we welcome all ages, from little ones to grandparents. Our boats are stable and comfortable and every guest gets hearing protection. If you're riding with very young children, let us know when you book and we'll help you choose the best boat and tour.
Do you offer wheelchair-accessible airboat tours?
Yes. We offer wheelchair-accessible airboat tours and will work with you to make boarding as easy as possible. Please tell us about any mobility needs when you book so your captain can prepare the right boat and assistance.
What should I bring?
Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a camera or phone (secured with a strap), and a water bottle. For sunrise, sunset or night rides, add a light jacket. Leave anything you don't want to risk dropping in the boat at home or in your car.
What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
Florida weather moves fast and a passing shower often clears quickly. If conditions genuinely affect your tour, we'll work with you to reschedule or adjust so you still get a great ride. We'll never send you out in unsafe conditions.
How long is an airboat tour?
Tour lengths vary by the experience you choose, from shorter rides to longer wildlife-focused cruises. When you book, the length is listed for each tour. Plan to arrive a little early at your pickup point so you don't feel rushed.
How do I book an Everglades airboat tour?
The fastest way is to text or call Captain Billy at 561-660-2419. Booking direct means one point of contact and easy help if you need to make a change.
Can I book a private airboat tour?
Yes. Our four 2-passenger airboats are perfect for private couples' rides, and our 15-passenger group boat is ideal for birthdays, reunions, corporate outings and church groups. Tell us your group size when you book and we'll match you to the right boat.
Where do the tours leave from?
We have three convenient pickup points: Stub Canal in Tamarac, the Sawgrass Expressway at Atlantic Blvd for Coral Springs and Coconut Creek, and The Landing at 15490 Loxahatchee Rd in Parkland, FL 33076. See our pickup locations page for directions.
Is there parking at the pickup points?
Yes, each of our three launches has convenient parking and your captain will meet you right at the water. When you book, we'll send exact meeting details for your chosen pickup location.
