“Text or call me and I’ll get you out on the water — I can’t wait to see you out in the swamp!”— Captain Billy, owner & native Everglades guideFor airboat tours Broward County residents and visitors can reach quickly, Aces Airboat Tours runs private boats from three launches on the county's western Everglades edge: the Sawgrass Expressway ramp at Atlantic Boulevard, The Landing at the end of Loxahatchee Road in Parkland, and Stub Canal. You ride the Water Conservation Areas with a native captain, gators, wading birds and no crowd.

Where Does the Everglades Start in Broward County?
The Everglades starts at Broward County's western edge, just past the Sawgrass Expressway, US-27 and the long earthen levee that separates the suburbs from the marsh. Drive west on almost any major road and the houses simply stop. On the other side of that levee is open sawgrass running to the horizon.
That marsh is not a park with a fence. It is Water Conservation Areas 2 and 3, enormous managed pieces of the original River of Grass that the South Florida Water Management District operates for water storage, flood protection and wildlife. Canals run along the levees, tree islands rise out of the grass, and alligators live wherever the water stays deep.
Much of what is now Broward used to look exactly like that. Coral Springs was built on marsh drained by canals and levees after the 1947 floods, and Plantation takes its name from a company that tried and failed to grow rice on drained Everglades land. Southwest Ranches, which sits on the eastern edge of the Everglades, incorporated in 2000 partly to keep its semi-rural way of life.
So the wild part of the county is still right there, a short drive from your front door. Our job is to take you across the levee and into it.
Private Airboat Tours Broward County Families Come Back For
Locals choose Aces because every tour is a private boat for their group, run by people who actually live this water. You are not buying a seat on a crowd boat with a loudspeaker. Your captain stops where you want, idles beside the gator your kids just spotted and answers every question on the way.
The fleet is deliberately small: two 8-passenger airboats, four 2-passenger airboats and one 15-passenger boat for big parties. Every seat is a front-row seat, so nobody spends the ride behind somebody's hat. See each one on our boats page, or read how a private airboat tour runs from start to finish.
Aces is family-owned. Captain Billy has spent more than sixty years in and around the Everglades, built his own airboats by hand and still answers the phone. Captain Bill, a naturalist captain with more than thirty years out here, knows the names of the birds before you ask. That is a big part of why our airboat tours Broward County neighbors recommend tend to get passed around school pickup lines, office group chats and HOA newsletters.
Residents also like that the ride fits a normal day. You can head out after lunch, be on the marsh soon after you park, and be home for dinner without packing a cooler for a long trip south.

Which Launch Is Closest to Your Part of Broward?
The right launch depends on which end of the county you start from. When planning airboat tours, Broward County residents usually fall into one of three groups:
- North Broward. From Parkland, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek and Deerfield Beach, The Landing at the end of Loxahatchee Road and the Sawgrass ramp at Atlantic Boulevard are both close.
- Central Broward. From Tamarac, Margate, Sunrise, Plantation, Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach, the Sawgrass ramp is usually the easy pick.
- South Broward. From Weston, Davie, Pembroke Pines, Miramar and Hollywood, you head north on the Sawgrass Expressway, or Captain Billy may suggest Stub Canal.
Margate's name even nods to this trip: it combines founder Jack Marqusee with "gate," as in a gateway to western Broward. The grid below lists every city with its real mileage to the nearest launch, and Captain Billy confirms the exact meeting spot when you book. More detail is on our pickup locations page.

What Lives on the Broward Side of the River of Grass
The conservation areas west of Broward hold one of the densest alligator populations you can reach from a suburb. We see American alligators on the vast majority of trips, from big adults sunning on the canal banks to hatchlings tucked into lily pads. They are wild, so we never promise a count. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has good background on how they live and why you should keep your distance on land.
Birds fill in everything else. Great blue herons stalk the shallows, great and snowy egrets lift off ahead of the bow, anhingas hang their wings out to dry and white ibis work the mud in flocks. Ospreys hunt the canals, and roseate spoonbills are a pink surprise when they show up. Turtles line the banks on sunny mornings.
The landscape itself is half the show: sawgrass taller than a person, tree islands full of roosting birds, open sloughs and the straight lines of levees and canals that move water through the system. This water keeps flowing south toward Everglades National Park, which is why the health of this marsh matters to the whole region.
Every one of our airboat tours, Broward County side or Palm Beach side, runs through this same kind of habitat. Want the long version before you go? Our Everglades wildlife guide and the alligator tours overview cover what to watch for.

Matching the Ride to Your Broward Plans
Most Broward outings fall into a few patterns, and each has a ride that suits it best.
A weekend with the kids. A day airboat tour keeps things bright and easy, with plenty of gators and birds in good light. Birthdays work well too, and our kids birthday airboat tours put the whole party on one boat.
After work or a date night. A sunset tour catches the sky turning orange over the sawgrass, and the Red Eye Gator night tour goes out after dark with a spotlight to find glowing eyes.
Office and team days. Broward companies book corporate team building airboat tours, with the 15-passenger boat or several private boats running together.
Guests from out of town. If relatives are staying on the beach, our guide to Everglades tours from Fort Lauderdale explains how to fit a ride into their visit.
Guests who use wheelchairs ride on boats with a boarding ramp, and anglers can book an Everglades fishing tour. For more ideas around the county, see our list of outdoor activities in Broward County. Seasonal tips live on our winter tours page.
Booking Your Broward Airboat Ride
Booking is a quick text or call, not a checkout cart. Text or call Captain Billy at 561-660-2419 with your date, how many people are coming and what time of day you prefer. He will match you with the right boat, tell you which launch makes sense from your neighborhood and send directions.
- Send your date, group size and the city you are coming from.
- Captain Billy suggests a tour and confirms the launch and meeting time.
- Arrive a few minutes early, grab hearing protection and climb aboard.
Because every tour is a private boat, your rate depends on the boat and the length of the ride, so ask him for it directly. There are no crowd tickets and no surprise add-ons. Check the forecast with the National Weather Service in Miami or our Everglades weather page; summer storms usually pass quickly, and Captain Billy will move your time if lightning is around.
Read what other locals say on our reviews page, where we hold a 4.9-star Google rating. If you are comparing airboat tours, Broward County has bigger parks with gift shops and shows. Aces is the small, private option run by the family that built it.

Real Google reviews from guests who rode the wild Everglades with Captain Billy and Captain Bill.
Called Captain Bill at 9 AM and asked if he could do a 10 AM run. He said yes and met me right on time. We saw two alligators, a pink spoonbill and numerous herons. If you want the real Everglades with someone who actually lives in them, book Captain Bill. Highly recommended.
Our captain was the best! We live in South Florida and bring guests all the time. By far the most fun. I loved the fast paths and the way we went side to side.
We had a terrific time with Airboating Bill and his mate for the day. They were very knowledgeable about the history of the area and all of the wildlife. We really enjoyed learning his family history and the ride was so much fun.
Our family had an incredible time with our captain. He shared so many interesting facts about the alligators and went out of his way to make sure we saw several, despite the weather. Highly recommend!
