Meet Captain Billy
Anyone can drive a boat. It takes a lifetime in the Everglades to truly know it. Meet Captain Billy — the owner of Aces Airboat Tours, who has spent more than 60 years navigating this wild ecosystem and calls it home.
“Text or call me and I’ll get you out on the water — I can’t wait to see you out in the swamp!”— Captain Billy, owner & native Everglades guide
Captain Billy
Captain Billy is the heart and soul of Aces Airboat Tours. He isn't a seasonal hire reading off a script — he's the owner, and he has spent more than 60 years navigating the Everglades ecosystem. He doesn't just work out here; he lives here, deep in the glades on a homestead he built with his own hands, surrounded by the same sawgrass, alligators and wading birds you'll see on your tour.
That lifetime on the water is something no big tour company can match. Captain Billy knows the channels the way you know your own driveway, reads the weather and the wildlife by instinct, and built his own airboat to run these waters. He's a genuine character and a natural storyteller, and if the timing's right, he may even bring you by his house out in the middle of the Everglades — a glimpse of a way of life almost no one gets to see.
Book a tour with Captain Billy and you're not a number on a 25-seat boat. You're a guest of a man who has given his whole life to this place, and who loves nothing more than sharing it.
- Owner of Aces Airboat Tours — this is his life's work, not a job
- 60+ years navigating the Everglades ecosystem
- Actually lives in the glades — a homestead he built himself
- May bring you by his house deep in the Everglades

Captain Bill
Captain Bill is the other Ace behind the wheel — and don't confuse him with owner Captain Billy. Bill is a lifelong naturalist with more than 30 years exploring the Everglades and the wild corners of South Florida, and it shows in everything he does on the water. Where some guides point out a gator and move on, Bill reads the whole ecosystem for you: the sawgrass, the sloughs and hammocks, the wading birds, the turtles and snakes, and the hundreds of small signs that tell him where the wildlife will be.
Three decades in nature have made him a walking field guide to the River of Grass. He can tell a great blue heron from a tricolored at a glance, explain how the seasons and water levels move the alligators, and name the plants and trees that most people glide right past. Guests who love wildlife and the natural world gravitate to Bill's tours — his knowledge runs deep, and his passion for protecting this ecosystem is genuine and contagious.
Book a ride with Captain Bill and you'll come off the water knowing the Everglades, not just having seen it. Join him on a wildlife-focused nature tour, a bird watching tour, or the legendary Red Eye Gator night tour for glowing gator eyes after dark.

The Difference A Real Captain Makes
They Live It
Our captains don't clock in and out of the Everglades — they live and breathe it. That local knowledge is the difference between hoping to see a gator and knowing exactly where to find one.
Small Boats, Real Connection
On our smaller airboats there's no PA system and no cattle-call. It's you, your captain and the glades — real conversation, real stories, real answers to your questions.
Safety First, Always
Decades of experience means our captains read the water, the weather and the wildlife so you can relax and soak it all in. We provide hearing protection and put safety first on every ride.

Awesome tour! Captain Billy was great! Very knowledgeable and fun to be around. We went in the morning and it was perfect weather. Great views, saw lots of alligators and birds. We will definitely do this again!
We went with our friends visiting from out of town, and our kids. Captain Bill was so knowledgeable, he knew the area so well and showed us a ton of alligators up close. The tour was a 10/10.
We booked a 2 hour private tour, which seems to be the right amount of time to see everything. Very easy meeting spot at a boat landing. Our captain was fantastic and I can't say enough great things. He put us on some alligators. We will definitely be back.
The Red Eye Gator tour is the best way to see gators, an absolutely awesome experience zipping through the Everglades during twilight. Lots and lots of gators awake and active. Captain Billy is very knowledgeable and one hell of a captain!
What an absolute amazing experience! Our captain is one of the most experienced men in the Everglades. We explored the wildlife including up to 30 alligators, several species of birds, frogs and fish. Well worth it, and you get a private party instead of being with strangers.
Called Captain Bill at 9 AM and asked if he could do a 10 AM run. He said yes and met me right on time. We saw two alligators, a pink spoonbill and numerous herons. If you want the real Everglades with someone who actually lives in them, book Captain Bill. Highly recommended.
Our captain was the best! We live in South Florida and bring guests all the time. By far the most fun. I loved the fast paths and the way we went side to side.
We had a terrific time with Airboating Bill and his mate for the day. They were very knowledgeable about the history of the area and all of the wildlife. We really enjoyed learning his family history and the ride was so much fun.
Our family had an incredible time with our captain. He shared so many interesting facts about the alligators and went out of his way to make sure we saw several, despite the weather. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing trip with the best airboat captain ever. My daughter and I were impressed by the whole trip, the cool stories, the amazing Everglades and the hospitality. We got to watch at least 20 gators, even a mother with several babies. Thank you!
It can't get any better than this! Our captain's airboat tour was phenomenal. He knew just where to go to find the alligators, and we saw many. A truly authentic Everglades experience.
Loved this experience and so glad we took the time to do it. Saw lots of gators and other wildlife. Very happy and lucky to tour the real Everglades with our captain.
