Airboat Tours Near Boca Raton, FL
Private airboat tours Boca Raton residents, resort guests and snowbirds can plan in one text: your own boat, a captain who grew up in the Glades, and wild alligators in open sawgrass, launching just south of the county line in Parkland.
“Text or call me and I’ll get you out on the water — I can’t wait to see you out in the swamp!”— Captain Billy, owner & native Everglades guideFor airboat tours Boca Raton visitors can reach easily, Aces Airboat Tours runs private boats from The Landing on Loxahatchee Road in Parkland, the closest of our three launches to Boca. Head west on Glades Road or Palmetto Park Road to US-441, then south. You ride a private boat into the northern Everglades for alligators, wading birds and sawgrass, with no crowd aboard.

Why Boca Guests Choose a Private Boat Over a Park Ride
Boca guests choose a private boat because it matches how they already travel: their own table, their own schedule, a host who knows them by name. A big park ride puts you on a bench with dozens of strangers. Aces puts your group alone on a boat with a captain who answers to you.
Every seat is a front-row seat. Our fleet runs from two-passenger boats for a couple out of The Boca Raton resort, to 8-passenger boats for a family visiting from West Boca, to a 15-passenger boat for an office outing from the Town Center corridor. You can see each one on our boats page.
The captain matters even more than the boat. Aces is family-owned, and owner Captain Billy has spent more than sixty years in and around the Everglades. He lives on a homestead he built, he hand-built his airboats, and he is the person who picks up when you call. Captain Bill, a naturalist with more than thirty years on this water, is the other captain you may ride with.
That is what sets our airboat tours Boca Raton guests ride apart: an owner at the stick, no script and time to stop when the gator surfaces.
How Far Is the Everglades From Boca Raton?
The Everglades is closer to Boca Raton than most visitors assume. The marsh begins just past the western suburbs, where the managed Water Conservation Areas hold a huge piece of the original River of Grass. Our closest launch, The Landing at 15490 Loxahatchee Road, sits just across the county line in Parkland.
The route is simple. From Mizner Park, FAU or the beach hotels, drive west on Glades Road or Palmetto Park Road until you reach US-441, turn south, then head west on Loxahatchee Road to the ramp. It is mostly straight, suburban driving. The real miles and drive times from central Boca appear in the getting-here section below, and Captain Billy confirms the exact meeting spot when you book.
West Boca residents near US-441 have the shortest run. Guests east of I-95 should allow extra time for Glades Road traffic around Town Center.
This is the northern Everglades, a different stretch of the Glades from the Tamiami Trail parks south of Miami. It is quieter water with far fewer boats, and it is the nearest true Everglades marsh to Boca. From Gumbo Limbo to the River of Grass
Boca already has excellent nature on the coast, and an airboat ride is the inland half of that story. Gumbo Limbo, the environmental education center at Red Reef Park, was founded in 1984 and covers the coastal side of the city's wild places. Daggerwing Nature Center in West Boca gives inland neighborhoods a nature stop of their own.
The northern Everglades is the freshwater counterpart: sawgrass to the horizon, tree islands, lily-pad pools and long canals beside the levees. Here you meet American alligators, great blue herons, great and snowy egrets, anhingas, white ibis and ospreys, with roseate spoonbills a prize on lucky days. We see gators on the vast majority of trips, but they are wild, so we never promise one. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission explains how common they are statewide.
Boca has a stranger wildlife chapter, too. From 1953 to 1961 the city was home to Africa U.S.A., a fence-free wild animal park, and remnants still stand at the entrance to Camino Gardens, according to the Boca Raton history. The animals in our marsh are the original residents, and no one put them there.
Curious kids and serious naturalists both do well on a slower ride. Our Everglades nature tours leave time to idle beside a tree island and talk about how water moves south toward Everglades National Park.

Airboat Tours Boca Raton Groups Book Most
The airboat tours Boca Raton groups book most fall into a few clear patterns, and each one points to a different boat and time of day. Use this as a starting point, then text Captain Billy for his honest read.
| Your group | Best fit |
|---|---|
| Couple staying at a resort or A1A hotel | A two-passenger sunset tour, back in time for dinner at Mizner Park |
| Family with young kids | A morning day tour in good light for spotting gators |
| Snowbirds and visiting grandparents | An unhurried nature ride; ramp boats for guests using wheelchairs |
| FAU students and friends | A fast tour with spins and sawgrass runs |
| Office team from the Town Center area | The 15-passenger boat or several boats together |
A few other options surprise people. Our Red Eye Gator night tours head out after dark with a spotlight, and gator eyes glow red across the water. Birders can request a slower bird watching tour in the cooler months. Teams can turn the outing into a corporate team building afternoon.
Guests who use wheelchairs ride on boats with a boarding ramp. Details are on our accessible airboat tours page, and Captain Billy will talk through any mobility questions before you come out.

Planning a Half Day Out of Boca
A private airboat ride fits neatly into half a day in Boca, which is why so many guests pair it with something else. A sunrise run lets you be back in town for brunch. An afternoon ride leaves the morning for the beach at Red Reef Park, and a sunset tour ends with the drive home under an orange sky.
When to go. Gators are active all year. The dry season, roughly November through April, brings cooler mornings, lower water and wildlife gathered in the deeper channels, which suits snowbird season perfectly. Summer brings a lush green marsh and quick afternoon storms, so morning and evening rides work best. Check the National Weather Service Miami forecast and our Everglades weather page the day before.
What to wear. Light layers, closed-toe shoes or secure sandals, sunglasses and a hat that stays on in the wind. Hearing protection is provided on every ride. Our what to wear guide covers the details.
Getting there without a car. Resort guests often take a rideshare to the ramp. Tell Captain Billy where you are staying and he will suggest the simplest pickup and drop-off point.
For residents, airboat tours Boca Raton families book are a strong answer when relatives visit and want more than the beach.
