Why Aces

Airboat Tours Mangonia Park Workers Plan for a Day Off

Mangonia Park is a working town. The Australian Avenue and 45th Street corridors carry much of its business, and plenty of residents ride Tri-Rail from the station in town. Days off are precious, so when you take one, it should feel like a real break.

A private airboat ride does that. Every Aces tour is your own boat, so there is no ticket line, no microphone and no strangers sharing the bench. Every seat is a front-row seat, with no middle row on any of our boats. Your captain sets the pace for your group and stops wherever you want.

Pick the boat that matches your plans: a 2-passenger airboat for a couple, one of two 8-passenger boats for a family or friends, or the 15-passenger boat for a bigger crew. Photos and details are on our boats page.

Aces is family-owned. Captain Billy has spent more than sixty years in and around the Everglades, built his own airboats by hand and still answers the phone. Captain Bill, a naturalist captain with more than thirty years on this water, shares the work. Get to know them on our captains page. On your day off, you ride with the people who built the business.

Local History

Magnolia, Mangoes and a Name Mix-Up

The town's name came about by accident. Founders who established the community in 1947 asked for the name Magnolia Park, but it was already taken, so the state named it Mangonia Park instead, a nod to the mango groves that grew here. That story is recorded in the town's history.

The groves are part of a bigger pattern. Across Palm Beach County, farms, groves and towns took shape on land that had once been tied to the wet interior. The marsh that survived lies to the west and south, now held in the Water Conservation Areas managed by the South Florida Water Management District.

That is where Aces runs. On the water you see the landscape that existed before any grove or rail line: endless sawgrass, tree islands, lily pad pools and long canals beside the levees. Alligators slide off the banks and wading birds lift off as the boat passes.

Captain Billy can tell you how the marsh has changed during his lifetime and what it looked like before the coast filled in. On airboat tours, Mangonia Park riders get the story of the land behind their own commute, told by someone who saw it change.

Getting There

Leaving the Rail Line Behind

No train runs out to the marsh. Tri-Rail is great for the commute, but our launches sit at the western edge of the developed coast, so you need a car or a rideshare for the last stretch. Plan on a real drive south; the getting-here section shows actual miles and minutes from town.

The usual route to The Landing:

  1. Take I-95 or Florida's Turnpike south to Glades Road.
  2. Head west on Glades Road to US-441/SR-7.
  3. Go south on US-441 to Loxahatchee Road.
  4. Turn west and follow Loxahatchee Road to The Landing at the edge of the marsh.

The other launch is off the Sawgrass Expressway at Atlantic Boulevard. Stay on I-95 or the Turnpike to the Sawgrass, then head south to the Atlantic Boulevard exit. Captain Billy tells you which ramp fits your day when you book.

Because the drive takes a while, most guests from the north end of the county plan a half day. A morning ride gets you home by mid-afternoon. For a fuller plan, see our Everglades day trip from West Palm Beach; the route is nearly the same. Riders from up the road can check Palm Beach Gardens airboat tours.

How Far Is the Airboat Launch From Mangonia Park?

From Mangonia Park, the closest Aces launch is The Landing in Parkland. The usual route: I-95 or Florida's Turnpike south to Glades Rd, west to US-441/SR-7, south to Loxahatchee Rd, then west.

  • The Landing, Parkland: about 45 miles, roughly 65-75 minutes by car outside rush hour.
  • Sawgrass Expressway at Atlantic Blvd: about 51 miles, roughly 65-75 minutes by car outside rush hour.

We also run trips from our Stub Canal launch on request; ask Captain Billy which ramp suits your group.

Times are measured from central Mangonia Park and grow at rush hour and on event weekends. Captain Billy confirms the exact meeting spot, parking and what to bring when you text or call 561-660-2419. All three launches open onto the same wild, gator-rich northern Everglades, so pick whichever is easiest for your day. See every launch on our pickup locations page.

Wildlife

From Lake Mangonia to the River of Grass

Lake Mangonia sits just south of town, inside West Palm Beach, a body of water with edges you can see. The Everglades is the opposite: water spread thin across miles of sawgrass, no shoreline in sight and wildlife on its own schedule.

American alligators are the main event. We see them on the vast majority of trips, sometimes a big one stretched out on a levee, sometimes a small one hidden in the lily pads. They are wild, so we never promise a sighting. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission manages the state's alligators and explains how they live.

The bird list is long:

  • Great blue herons hunting along the canal edge
  • Great and snowy egrets, bright against the green
  • Anhingas drying their wings
  • White ibis feeding in groups
  • Ospreys overhead
  • Roseate spoonbills, the pink prize of the day

Turtles sun on logs and banks too. The marsh we ride is part of the same northern system as the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, which protects a large piece of the same wetland.

Want more of one thing? Choose bird watching airboat tours for a slower pace, or alligator tours if gators top your list.

Groups

Team Days for Local Businesses and Crews

With businesses lining Australian Avenue and 45th Street, group outings are a natural fit. A private airboat ride gets a team out of the office and onto the water, with nothing to set up and nobody stuck at a desk.

Here is how groups usually work:

  1. Text Captain Billy the headcount and a few possible dates.
  2. Groups of up to 15 ride together on our largest boat; bigger teams spread across several private boats.
  3. Pick the tone: a relaxed nature ride, a fast tour with spins, or a sunset ride after work.
  4. Everyone gets hearing protection and a quick briefing at the ramp.

Our corporate team building tours explain more about planning a work outing. Friend groups use the same setup for birthdays and bachelor or bachelorette parties; see group airboat tours.

Night owls can ask about the Red Eye Gator night tour, which heads out after dark with a spotlight to find glowing alligator eyes. It is a favorite for groups who want something different from the usual dinner out.

Team members who use a wheelchair can ride on boats fitted with a boarding ramp, so nobody gets left behind at the office.

Booking From Mangonia Park

Booking takes one text. Message or call Captain Billy at 561-660-2419 with your date, group size and preferred time. He picks the boat, confirms the launch and sends directions.

Every tour is a private boat, so your rate depends on the boat and the length of the ride. Ask Captain Billy for yours. There are no per-seat tickets and no surprise fees at the ramp.

Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat that will not blow off and closed shoes. A light jacket helps on winter mornings. Our what to wear guide has more, and the Everglades weather page helps you pick a good day. The National Weather Service in Miami covers the forecast in detail.

Best seasons? The dry months, roughly November through April, bring cooler air and wildlife concentrated in deeper water. Summer is lush, with afternoon storms that usually pass quickly, so morning and evening rides work best then.

We hold a 4.9-star Google rating; read guest stories on our reviews page. Airboat tours Mangonia Park riders book with us are as simple as that first text, and the drive south is the only part of the day that feels like work.

Our family had an incredible time with our captain. He shared so many interesting facts about the alligators and went out of his way to make sure we saw several, despite the weather. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing trip with the best airboat captain ever. My daughter and I were impressed by the whole trip, the cool stories, the amazing Everglades and the hospitality. We got to watch at least 20 gators, even a mother with several babies. Thank you!

Good to Know

Mangonia Park Airboat Tour Questions

Are there airboat tours near Mangonia Park?

Yes. Aces Airboat Tours runs the private airboat tours Mangonia Park residents book, from launches on the northern edge of the Everglades, a drive south via I-95 or the Turnpike. You meet your captain at the ramp and ride open sawgrass with only your own group.

Can I take Tri-Rail to an airboat tour?

Not all the way. Our launches sit at the western edge of the metro, away from the rail line, so you need a car or a rideshare to reach the ramp. Text Captain Billy and he will tell you which launch is simplest to get to.

How much is an airboat tour near Mangonia Park?

With airboat tours, Mangonia Park guests always ride a private boat, so text or call Captain Billy at 561-660-2419 for your rate. It depends on the boat size and the tour length rather than a per-seat ticket.

Is an airboat tour good for a company outing?

Yes. On airboat tours, Mangonia Park teams of up to 15 ride together on one boat, and larger teams can split across several private boats at the same time. It gets everyone outdoors and talking. Text Captain Billy your headcount to plan it.

What is the difference between an airboat tour and a swamp tour?

A swamp tour is any guided trip into wetlands. An airboat tour uses a flat-hulled boat pushed by an aircraft-style propeller, which can cross sawgrass and shallow marsh other boats cannot. In the northern Everglades, the airboat is how you reach the open marsh.

Are night airboat tours safe?

Yes. Night tours run with experienced captains who know the water, and a spotlight picks out gator eyes along the canal. Everyone gets hearing protection. Night rides suit older kids and adults; families with little ones usually pick a daytime tour.

How long is the drive from Mangonia Park to an Aces airboat launch?

From central Mangonia Park, The Landing in Parkland is about 45 miles away, roughly 65-75 minutes by car outside rush hour. Captain Billy confirms the exact meeting spot when you book by text or call at 561-660-2419.

Which Aces launch is closest to Mangonia Park?

For most Mangonia Park guests it is The Landing in Parkland. We also launch from our Stub Canal launch, our Sawgrass Expressway launch at Atlantic Boulevard, and every launch opens onto the same wild northern Everglades.
