Airboat Tours Near Oakland Park, FL
Private airboat tours Oakland Park residents and beach visitors fit into half a day: drive west on Oakland Park Boulevard, ride your own boat across the northern Everglades with a lifelong captain, and be back downtown on Dixie Highway by afternoon.
“Text or call me and I’ll get you out on the water — I can’t wait to see you out in the swamp!”— Captain Billy, owner & native Everglades guideFor private airboat tours Oakland Park guests most often choose Aces Airboat Tours. Our three launches sit on the northern edge of the Everglades in western Broward and Parkland, a fairly direct drive west on Oakland Park or Commercial Boulevard to the Sawgrass Expressway. Each tour is a private boat with a native captain, wild alligators, wading birds and open sawgrass.

Half a Day, a Whole Different Florida
An airboat ride from Oakland Park fits neatly into half a day. The city sits close to the middle of Broward, so the drive west is mostly one long boulevard and a short stretch of expressway. The real miles and minutes print in the getting-here section below.
That makes it easy to slot a ride into a normal weekend. Ride in the morning and spend the afternoon around Downtown Oakland Park, or ride late and catch dinner on the way home. Locals in Lloyd Estates, Royal Palm Isles or North Andrews Gardens tell us it is the easiest way to show visitors the "real" Florida without losing a whole day.
The difference with Aces is the boat itself. Every tour is a private boat for your group, so you never share seats with strangers, and every seat is a front-row seat. Owner Captain Billy has spent more than sixty years in and around the Everglades and still answers the phone himself. Captain Bill, a naturalist captain with more than thirty years on this water, shares the tours.
Small boats, short drive, native captains: that combination is why so many Oakland Park guests come back with new visitors in tow.
Floranada, a Hurricane and a Second Start
Oakland Park started life under a different name. In the 1920s land boom, the town was called Floranada, a blend of Florida and Canada. The 1926 hurricane wrecked those plans and the town went bankrupt. When it reincorporated in 1929, residents chose to become a city and voted for the name Oakland Park. Later annexations brought in neighborhoods such as Twin Lakes South and North Andrews Gardens.
The marsh you ride on has been reshaped too. Today levees and canals divide this part of the Everglades into managed sections. Our launches sit beside the Water Conservation Areas, a huge piece of the original River of Grass that the South Florida Water Management District manages today. Restoration work under the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan aims to send more clean water south through the system.
Captains love this kind of conversation. Ask why the levees run where they do, how water moves through the sawgrass or what the marsh looked like before the canals, and you will get an answer from someone who has watched this water for decades.

Airboat Tours Oakland Park Thrill Seekers and Photographers Pick
Oakland Park guests tend to fall into two camps: people who want speed and people who want the perfect photo. We run tours for both.
- Fast tours: full-throttle runs across open marsh, tight spins and sawgrass slides.
- Sliding tours: the boat skids sideways across the water, a favorite with groups of friends.
- Sunrise tours: glassy water, mist on the sawgrass and active wildlife, ideal for photographers.
- Bird watching tours: slower, quieter runs with long stops for herons, egrets and spoonbills.
- Signature Everglades tour: a balanced private ride, the best first pick for mixed groups.
When comparing airboat tours, Oakland Park groups that cannot agree often split across two boats, one fast and one slow, and meet back at the ramp. Our fleet makes that easy: two 8-passenger airboats, four 2-passenger airboats and one 15-passenger boat, all shown on our boats page.
Tell Captain Billy who is coming and what they want, and he will match the ride to the group.
How Far Is the Airboat Launch From Oakland Park?
From Oakland Park, the closest Aces launch is our Sawgrass Expressway launch at Atlantic Boulevard. The usual route: west on Oakland Park Blvd or Commercial Blvd to the Sawgrass Expressway, north to Atlantic Blvd.
- Sawgrass Expressway at Atlantic Blvd: about 14 miles, roughly 30-40 minutes by car outside rush hour.
- The Landing, Parkland: about 22 miles, roughly 40-50 minutes by car outside rush hour.
We also run trips from our Stub Canal launch on request; ask Captain Billy which ramp suits your group.
Times are measured from central Oakland Park and grow at rush hour and on event weekends. Captain Billy confirms the exact meeting spot, parking and what to bring when you text or call 561-660-2419. All three launches open onto the same wild, gator-rich northern Everglades, so pick whichever is easiest for your day. See every launch on our pickup locations page.
Easterlin Park's Green, Scaled Up to the Horizon
If you have walked the shaded trails at Easterlin Park or watched the North Fork of the Middle River slide past, you have a small taste of what waits out west. The northern Everglades takes that greenery and stretches it across thousands of acres of sawgrass, tree islands, lily-pad pools and canals.
American alligators are the star. We see them on the vast majority of trips, from big adults basking on the banks to small ones hiding in the lily pads. They are wild animals, so we never promise a number. The National Park Service explains how alligators shape the whole marsh by digging holes that hold water through the dry season.
Wading birds fill every gap: great blue herons, great and snowy egrets, anhingas with wings spread to dry, white ibis and ospreys overhead. Roseate spoonbills appear on good days. Turtles stack up on logs along the canals.
Hearing protection is provided on every ride. When the captain cuts the engine for a stop, the marsh goes quiet in a way that feels a world away from Oakland Park Boulevard. Our Everglades wildlife guide covers the full list.

Ride First, Then Downtown Oakland Park
The simplest plan is to ride first and celebrate later. Here is how many local guests build the day.
- Morning ride. Drive west on Oakland Park or Commercial Boulevard to the Sawgrass Expressway and meet your captain at the confirmed launch.
- Lunch on the way back. You are back east by early afternoon.
- Afternoon downtown. Spend the rest of the day along Dixie Highway, at Jaco Pastorius Park or at Funky Buddha Brewery, which is a good spot to trade stories after the boat, never before it.
Beach visitors staying near the coast can follow the same plan and still get a late afternoon on the sand.
A few planning tips:
- Wear light layers, closed-toe shoes or secure sandals and a hat that stays on. Our what to wear guide has more.
- Summer afternoons bring storms, so mornings are the safer choice from June to September. The Everglades weather page helps you plan.
- On a fast tour you may catch a little spray. Keep phones zipped up.
Setting Up Your Ride

Planning something bigger? Office outings and team days work well on the 15-passenger boat or across several private boats. See our corporate team building tours. Anglers can also ask about fishing trips into water bank fishermen never reach.

Real Google reviews from guests who rode the wild Everglades with Captain Billy and Captain Bill.
We booked a 2 hour private tour, which seems to be the right amount of time to see everything. Very easy meeting spot at a boat landing. Our captain was fantastic and I can't say enough great things. He put us on some alligators. We will definitely be back.
The Red Eye Gator tour is the best way to see gators, an absolutely awesome experience zipping through the Everglades during twilight. Lots and lots of gators awake and active. Captain Billy is very knowledgeable and one hell of a captain!
What an absolute amazing experience! Our captain is one of the most experienced men in the Everglades. We explored the wildlife including up to 30 alligators, several species of birds, frogs and fish. Well worth it, and you get a private party instead of being with strangers.
Called Captain Bill at 9 AM and asked if he could do a 10 AM run. He said yes and met me right on time. We saw two alligators, a pink spoonbill and numerous herons. If you want the real Everglades with someone who actually lives in them, book Captain Bill. Highly recommended.
