Quick Answer

For private airboat tours Pembroke Park residents usually call Aces Airboat Tours. Our three launches sit on the northern edge of the Everglades in western Broward and Parkland, reached from Pembroke Road by I-95 or US-441, I-595 and the Sawgrass Expressway. Every ride is a private boat, so your group sees alligators, wading birds and sawgrass with nobody else aboard.

Why Aces

A Small Town Day Out on the River of Grass

A private airboat ride is one of the easiest big outings a small town can plan. Pembroke Park is a compact place: the town even takes its name from Pembroke Road, the street it grew up along. Most people here know their neighbors, and that is exactly the kind of group that fills one of our boats well.

Aces is family-owned and built around small, private rides. You do not share the boat with strangers or sit in a middle row. Every seat is a front-row seat, and the captain talks with your group instead of a crowd. Owner Captain Billy has spent more than sixty years in and around the Everglades and still picks up the phone himself.

We will be straightforward about distance. Our launches are on the northern edge of the Everglades, so from Pembroke Park it is a real drive north, mostly expressway. The exact miles and minutes appear in the getting-here section below. What waits at the end is a marsh with far fewer boats on it than the busy park corridors farther south.

For a small community, that makes a ride feel like an event: one morning, one boat, one group of people who already like spending time together.

Groups

Planning a Neighbors' Outing or Club Trip

Group rides are simple to arrange, and they make airboat tours, Pembroke Park style, a shared event. Almost half of the town's residents live in mobile homes. If you live in one of those communities and its activities group is looking for something different from the usual lunch trip, an airboat ride gives everyone a story to tell.

Here is how a group outing usually comes together:

  1. One organizer texts Captain Billy at 561-660-2419 with a rough headcount and two or three possible dates.
  2. He suggests the right setup: our 15-passenger boat for one shared ride, or several private boats running together for larger groups.
  3. Neighbors carpool up the expressway, meet the captain at the confirmed launch and head out onto the marsh.

Weekday mornings are a good fit for retirees and shift workers. The water is calm, the wildlife is active and you avoid weekend traffic on I-595. See more on our group airboat tours page.

Guests with limited mobility are welcome. Our accessible airboat tours use boats with a boarding ramp for wheelchair users, and the captain will keep the pace gentle. Mention any needs when you book so the right boat is ready.

Pick Your Tour

Airboat Tours Pembroke Park Families Pick for Visiting Relatives

When family flies in, an airboat ride gives them something they cannot do back home. Our signature Everglades airboat tour is the safe first pick: a private run through sawgrass, canals and tree islands with stops whenever a gator or a heron shows up.

From there, choose by time of day and energy level:

  • Day tours work best for small children and anyone who wants bright light for spotting wildlife.
  • Sunrise tours bring glassy water, cooler air and the busiest bird activity.
  • Red Eye Gator night tours head out after dark with a spotlight. Details are on our night airboat tours page.
  • Fast tours are for teenagers and anyone who wants spins and sawgrass slides.

When comparing airboat tours, Pembroke Park hosts often tell us the deciding factor was keeping the whole family on one boat. Our fleet covers that: two 8-passenger airboats, four 2-passenger airboats and one 15-passenger boat. You can see each one on our boats page.

All ages ride, and hearing protection is handed out to everyone before the engine starts.

How Far Is the Airboat Launch From Pembroke Park?

From Pembroke Park, the closest Aces launch is our Sawgrass Expressway launch at Atlantic Boulevard. The usual route: I-95 or US-441 north to I-595 west, then the Sawgrass Expressway north to Atlantic Blvd.

  • Sawgrass Expressway at Atlantic Blvd: about 29 miles, roughly 40-50 minutes by car outside rush hour.
  • The Landing, Parkland: about 38 miles, roughly 55-65 minutes by car outside rush hour.

We also run trips from our Stub Canal launch on request; ask Captain Billy which ramp suits your group.

Times are measured from central Pembroke Park and grow at rush hour and on event weekends. Captain Billy confirms the exact meeting spot, parking and what to bring when you text or call 561-660-2419. All three launches open onto the same wild, gator-rich northern Everglades, so pick whichever is easiest for your day. See every launch on our pickup locations page.

Wildlife

What Lives Out on the Marsh

The marsh we ride is part of the Water Conservation Areas, a huge managed piece of the original Everglades. It feels nothing like the busy US-441 corridor: sawgrass runs to the horizon, broken by tree islands, lily-pad pools and canals beside the levees.

American alligators are the main attraction. We see them on the vast majority of trips, from big adults on the banks to babies in the lily pads, but they are wild animals, so we never guarantee a sighting. The National Park Service explains why the alligator is so important to the whole Everglades system, digging holes that hold water for other wildlife in the dry months.

Birds fill in the rest of the show: great blue herons, great and snowy egrets, anhingas spreading their wings to dry, white ibis and ospreys. Roseate spoonbills turn up some days and always draw a reaction. Turtles line the canal banks in the sun.

If the small green spaces close to home, like Patrick Beham Park or the Pembroke Park Preserve, are your idea of a nature break, the marsh is the same idea stretched across thousands of acres. Our guide to seeing alligators in South Florida has more background.

The Drive

Getting From Pembroke Road to the Launch

The route is simple, even if it is not short. From Pembroke Road, take I-95 or US-441 north to I-595, head west, then follow the Sawgrass Expressway north. Your launch is confirmed when you book, and Captain Billy will point you to the ramp with the easiest drive from your street.

A few tips that help the day go smoothly:

  • Allow extra time for weekday rush hour on I-595. A mid-morning start avoids most of it.
  • Carpool if you are going as a group. Parking is simpler and everyone arrives together.
  • Wear light layers, closed-toe shoes or secure sandals, a hat that stays on and sunscreen. Our what to wear guide covers the rest.
  • Check the forecast with the National Weather Service in Miami. Summer afternoons often bring short storms, so mornings are the safer bet that season.

Most guests are back home by lunch after a morning ride. Some make it a fuller day and stop for a meal on the way south. Either way, it is one planned outing, not a whole weekend.

How to Book

Booking Your Ride With Captain Billy

Booking is a conversation with the owner, not a checkout page. Text or call Captain Billy at 561-660-2419 with the date, your group size and the time of day you prefer. He will match you with the right boat, confirm the launch and send directions.

Because each tour is a private boat, the rate depends on your group and the length of the ride, so ask him for yours directly.

Captain Bill, a naturalist captain with more than thirty years on this water, shares the tours with Captain Billy. Both are happy to answer questions on the water, whether it is how an airboat steers with no rudder in the water or why tree islands stand higher than the sawgrass.

Neighbors who have ridden with us often pass the number along, and that word of mouth matters in a small town. If you want to hear from past guests first, read our reviews page, where we hold a 4.9-star Google rating. For other ideas close to home, our Broward outdoor activities guide is a good list to keep handy.

Called Captain Bill at 9 AM and asked if he could do a 10 AM run. He said yes and met me right on time. We saw two alligators, a pink spoonbill and numerous herons. If you want the real Everglades with someone who actually lives in them, book Captain Bill. Highly recommended.
